FAQs

What is a Vehicle Service Contract / Extended Warranty?

A Month to Month Vehicle Protection Service Contract is an agreement between the owner of the vehicle and the service contract company, obligating the company to pay for repairs covered by the contract for a specific period of time. Your vehicle is a major investment. With a vehicle service contract from Month to Month Vehicle Protection you are protecting yourself from the unexpected cost of mechanical breakdowns.

What's the difference between a "Service Contract" and an "Extended Warranty"?

An extended warranty comes with the vehicle purchase, is included in the original price of the vehicle and provides specified coverage for the repair of the vehicle within a given period of time. Month to Month Vehicle Protection Service Contracts are similar in nature to an Ex- tended Warranty as they both cover the cost of the repair of the covered components. Where they differ is a Month to Month Vehicle Protection Service Contract is available for purchase after you purchase the vehicle, as long as the vehicle is newer than 15 years old and has less than 200,000 miles.

Although the terms Used Car Warranty and Extended Warranty are inaccurate phrases when referring to a Vehicle Service Contract, we recognize that most consumers commonly use these terms so you'll find them used within the Month to Month Vehicle Protection website and other marketing materials.

Bottom line, after the manufacturer's warranty expires on your vehicle, you have nothing to protect yourself from expensive vehicle repairs, unless of course you have Extended Vehicle Protection.

Month to Month Vehicle Protection assures that all covered parts, labor, and sales tax required for replacement or repair of covered parts in your vehicle will be paid on your behalf by the administrator of your Month Month Vehicle Protection Plan.

Why do I need a Service Contract/ Extended Warranty?

Your automobile is most likely your second largest investment that you use on a day to day basis. A Month to Month Vehicle Protection Service Contract will ensure that your vehicle is always in the best mechanical condition and can help avoid expensive repair bills.

What types of Service Contracts/Extended Warranties are available?

Technically, there are two types of auto service contracts: The first type is called "exclusionary coverage" or bumper to bumper coverage. The exclusionary coverage plan covers everything on your vehicle except components specifically listed in the agreement as being excluded and is available on vehicles 15 years old and newer with less than 75,000 miles at the time of sale. The list of excluded components consists mainly of routine maintenance items. The second type is "named component coverage". The named component coverage plan covers only those components listed as being covered in the agreement and is available on vehicles 15 years old and newer with less than 200,000 miles at the time of sale. A named component coverage plan is intended to cover the major items on the vehicle compared to the exclusionary coverage plan that covers virtually everything.

How do I know which coverage my vehicle qualifies for?
